I've not gone away...

... just busy.

At the moment I'm repainting 9 celtic cavalry, because my celts are becoming outnumbered by my expanding Roman armies.  I'm also working on a 15mm camp as a belated Birthday present for Ian, and renovating half an ala of Roman cavalry that I have never been entirely happy with, because I feel the GB riders are a tad too small....  photos to follow in a day or two.

Ha! I have the opposite problem - far too many Celts painted and not enough Romans. Which is obviously why I am currently half-way through painting 30 (ummm, yes, thirty) Celtic chariots...

...at least one from every manufatcurer I could find...

That's interesting Richard. I have around 20 from Newline, Renegade, GB and Foundry to paint. I'm planning to kitbash them to get about 15 decent ones out, as they all have strengths and weaknesses; probably using Newline horses, GB and Renegade chariot frames, Newline wheels and Foundry/Renegade crew.

It's a big job; I want to finish my Roman Legion first.

Yes hanging in there, Paul. :-)

Just seem to have lots of painting going on, but not much getting finished. I need another big, distant project to motivate me!

The wheels are often the worst thing, because they are usually made much too heavy. Newline's are the best, I think, and Black Tree's the very worst (bizarre tiny little wheels).

Most of the chariots are built of huge wooden beams that look like they should be supporting bridges.

My main problem is that no one sells nice, separate chariot drivers. I'm thinging about sculpting and castin one, myself.
