Riders of the eBoii

I've just knowcked out a quick celtic cavalry regiment.  These were an impulse purchase on eBay; relatively poorly painted, they cost rather less than the cost of the metal from Wargames Foundry.

It took roughly a week to tart them up.  They will never look as nice as figures panted by Nick who has done most of my Celts, but I think they will look fine on the table.

Next I'm going to finish Ian's camp and work on some Praetorian Cavalry....

Yes. I normally matt my horses, but when I did these, it crackled the surface and they looked awful, so I used a satin instead. Consequently they are a bit glossy... perhaps they have a sweat up!

They look good to me. I'd be happy to have them on my table!

As for the glossy look. After the satin finish has cured for a few days you can probably over spray with a coat of matte finish.

Hi Allan, I won't use a matt spray, as it takes the edge off the nice shiny metallics. I love helmets and swords to glint.. I might try mixing some Satin and Matt varnish together, to make a more matt satin.

Sorry, I accidently deleted Der Teslers's initial comment, which was that the horses are a bit glossy.

Which they are!

The horse crazy girlfriends of your Celts brushed them to a shine, that's why. :)
