Aventine Roman Rioters

I've added some Aventine miniatures to my slowly massing crowd, which is now up to 46 miniatures.

I'm pleased with how they have come out, although I've not cracked the Devlan Mud quite yet (tunics are OK; eyes, not so much).  The half-bricks work nicely...

Hi Paul,

Roman civvies enjoyed a good riot, from time to time, draft riots, racing faction riots, bread riots. These chaps are intended as Romans resisting an attack on the city as in 68AD.

Great targets for the Gladius Wielders!

They look great, love the half bricks; perfect for throwing through windows, shame there was no glass to smash! ;)

Those rioters look righteous! Best, Dean

I think they look cute, in a murderous, frenzied sort of way. Exactly the kind of people who get recruited into the legions...

I do really like the bricks idea !

Merci Greg. I got bored with javelins. Going to be lots of bricks on the bases, too...

Great paintjob and nice minis. Once I have worked myself through my other ancients I really need their Republicans and Cathargians!

Thanks Burkhard, yes the Aventines are very nice minis. I shall be buying some of their EIRs, shortly...

Are those Aventine's "Bareheaded Levies"?

That's them! Keith should capitalise on my post and make them available with an optional half brick, instead of a spear. ;-)

There are all-too-few unarmoured Roman minis out there.

Cheers, Simon
