Possibly the best dead Loxodonta Cyclotis (without a howdah) model in the world.
Probably the only dead Loxodonta Cyclotis (without a howdah) model in the world. ;-)
This is a dead forest elephant, around 40mm to the shoulder, as (probably) used by the Carthaginians. It's not clear in this photo, but the rear right leg crosses the rear left and rests on the ground. I'm hoping to get 10 cast for our Zama game, which I'll customise so that each is slightly different form the next. They'll take the place of the "live" elephants as they are killed.

Wow Simon you have really pushed up the bar this time... what amazing work! I didn't know you were a secret sculpter too, excellent job, and you know how to cast yur own figures too. I always wanted to learn this but never got around to it. Nice job again.
Hi Secundus Thanks! I'm not much of a sculptor but can manage a few bits.
I've done some home casting in the past, but I'm getting this one cast; that way it'll be better (and lighter, 'cos they can cast it hollow). Also I can't vulcanise moulds and this mould will be getting hot hot hot!
Looks great!
MIR used to make dead elephants (without howdah) for their Carthaginian and Macedonian Casualty sets, but in 20mm. Their sculpts were nowhere as nice as yours though.
Excellent work! You should be very proud of this project!
Killing elephants... for shame... Great job btw.
Thanks guys! I really enjoyed doing it; it's nice to be creative in a different way.
I have a couple of other partially-completed sculpting projects in my drawers. I must try to finish them too!
Respect!
