Work in Progress

I'm finishing off some Romans that Dr Simon's mate painted for me...

...and getting ready to paint the next lot of Romans.

This is pretty much standard in the BigRedBatCave.  Most days I'm busy finishing off someone else's Romans!  Even after these I must have 3 or 4 hundred to do.  Daunting...

  2. Hi Paul, there are 48 Auxilia here, and 24 A&A legionaries to do next. I've around 3500 28mm ancients finished, and about as many unpainted. Plus a recent addiction to plastic Nappies...

  3. Some nice figs there Simon and I like the standard bearer position and the centurian.

Must check out some of these Black Tree figs as they look quite good.

Mind you I have a soft spot for the Aux

  4. Hi Paul, some of the BTDs are OK. Their auxilia are much better than the legionaries. The cavalry are OK, although the horses are pretty poor as the moulds are shot. I quite like them; prefer Foundry Saleh's, though.

  5. I think you probably have one of the largest personal Roman collection that I'm aware of. Lovely work!

  9. Thanks all. 3.5K seems like a lot, but they are in around a dozen different armies for 6 or 8 different periods, so I struggle to get more than 1300 contemporary figures on the table at a time (can only do that with Caesarians vs celts).

I'm thinking of selling off a couple of smaller, non core armies so that I can further expand my favourite ones, most of which are Roman. Eventually I want to have a Roman army in each period from Polybius to Aetius.

    Cheers, Simon
