Middle Roman Syndrome

I mean, I just love this A&A range, but they take so long to paint!  Twice as long as an EIR.  It's the pteurges, and the edges around the armour.  Look good though... but will I ever complete an army of them?

A quick WIP shot of the A&A Middle Imperials that have been on my painting tray for around a month; ready to base.  I painted half, the rest (the better ones!) came from a lucky eBay purchase from the US.  Various command figures are coming on, in the background.  Watch this space...

  1. A whole army of them? Why not :-D
It depends on the size of the army

  2. I'd want 300 or so; Paul; only have 50, so far. Big gap... but I'm getting interested in the period.

  5. Hi Dean, the cowl is surreal, isn't it? Always struck me as a bit doubtful... as far as I know this fresco is the only evidence for them:-

    Pretty, though.

    Peter, I'm still 251 short of 300!

  11. Hi Paul, it will take me yonks to paint up 300, as they aren't a high priority. But I'll try to fit in a unit every month or so. Next will be a unit of Auxilia.

    Cheers, Simon

  13. These boys are tough to paint, Paul, and I've got other fish to fry! Will be a slow burner.
