These are the chums of Tuesday's slingers; I painted 4 to match an eBay purchase (from Solway Arts and Crafts IIRC), and based. They were pretty quick to paint, using Army Painter. Mine are the ones with blonde hair.
I usually double-depth base my light troops, but did these in single depth so that they can support a (projected future) unit of legionaries.
Looking great, Simon. I'd love to have a Late Roman army or two...
ReplyDeleteYou used AP? Where? They look lovely.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Matt
Seriously... were the AP'd?
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to do a tutorial you know (or did you do one a while back? :-S). When I use AP I always find it definitely looks AP. I assume you brush on the dip, then do some highlighting after?
Well done
Matt (again)
Hi Matt, these were painted base coat, highlight, very thin coat AP strong tone, didn't need a final highlight. Really very quick...
ReplyDeleteMy next lot will be Nappy French; will see how it works on them!
Really nice work - love the patterns on the tunics. Dean
ReplyDeleteThey look nice and I think ap gets a bad rap sometimes as very nice results can be achieved if used in a careful way...like yours.;-)
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Yup like these. Looking forward to seeing the Legionaries
ReplyDeleteVery good...and now you will have a second blog!!?
ReplyDeleteMate...you´re going to have to go flat out!! :-D
Cheers
paul
I thought if I do the horse and musket stuff in a new blog, it'll appeal to people who don't like ancients. And vice versa.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if some of those guys fought at Kalefeld/Harzhorn (AD 236). There have been finds of Eastern-style arrowheads.
