Many Completed Thureophoroi...

I do love a mini with a Thureos! Here are two new units of 16 Crusader Thureophoroi painted by my very able mate Nick Speller, and based by me.

Here are my original two units of converted Foundry peltasts; I must say I somewhat prefer these minis to the Crusaders. The figures are slightly taller and very well formed.

And finally... all together! These are the nucleus of my early-Mithridatic Pontic army. I hope that, after Salute, Nick will go on to paint enough minis to complete all 4 units at 24-man strength...

  2. I might have to ask your advice when I come to collect my Successor army as to what troops to buy. It looks to me as if you're well on your way to completing your army already. They look really good, I like the Foundry guy with the bare arms on the edge.

I take it you must have bought your Foundry Greeks before the price surge. I can remember the days when they where giving them away....sigh.

  3. Es una pena qué no puedes jugar, pero muchas gracias para el cumplido :)

Hi Secundus, yes happily I picked up a fair-sized Greek/Macedonian army before things got silly (I counted 220 unpainted phalangites alone, earlier this week!).

I'd be delighted to natter about Successors... I was planning to buy a big new GB Polemos army, but alas they are too expensive.

There is a deal on this week at Foundry where you can buy a collection for £58.72; this brings them in at just under £1 per figure for the Successor pike collection.

  4. Arr good, It sounds like Foundry are finally having to fight back in the price war. I love Foundry figures, they just got too exspensive.

Like the Greek collections, I kick myself for not buying up hordes of Ancient Germans when they were giving them away.

  5. I bought 5 of the new chariots recently, for about £8.50 each; OK, I thought.

If you want early Germans, I just picked up a hundred or so figures at 60-70p each from a chap clearing out; you are welcome to some if you want them. In particular I have bags of cavalry... The BTD Germans are also excellent sculpts and only cost about 60p each once you have signed up for the 40% discount.

  6. Thanks, I took your adive and ordered a couple of Collection deals from Foundry. I will see you tomorrow at Salute face to face. I will probably turn up about 12ish after coming down on the train from Bedfordshire. See you then.
