Look, no dice!

Shots of Tuesday night's game.  New cohorts received a baptism of fire.

With help from friends I'm play-testing a "lite" version of my "To the Strongest!" rules, with this version driven by cards rather than dice.  They rattle along very nicely.... at 5- 10 minutes a turn.

I like cards. They turn out to be faster than dice; no pause to pick them up and roll them, and no cock-dice. Just the odd shuffle...

Looking good...and interesting...

Lovely armies.
You do get odd distributions with cards though, not the nice even bell curves we're used to with dice.

Hi James, I've taken out the court cards, so they simply deliver a random number between 1 and 10. There's a good deal to be done with that...

No more clumsy so & so's hurling dice against your lovely scenery & figures either. Have you any plans to put these in print Simon?

Regards HGA.

I'm mulling publication over, HGA, mulling...

This set were intended to be an introductory set to my main rules (which are now pretty much written), but seem to be developing an independent life of their own.

Looks very good and the use of cards instead of dice is very interesting.

Publication/distribution sounds very interesting too.

I would love to see both sets in print but my preference with advancing years is now for lite rules.

I'm not thaaaat old, but I really struggle to learn new rule sets, so they do need to be

a) Simple
b) Clearly written
