I love these models, and it was fun painting them but they were a lot of work and am delighted to have finished them!
The detail on the models is terrific, and I'd commend these weapons of Mass Destruction to any aspiring Eastern potentate!
I've named these two after the titans Oceanus and Kronos. I plan to add a third, when Empire's new armoured elephant comes out. And then there are rumours of Pyrrhic elephants from Aventine... and I also need some elephant guards.
But these will have to wait; I've got a handful of Tegeans to finish, and then it's Operation Zama!

They re very nice but... I think you may have put a bit more work on the pieces of cloth under the howdahs... Maybe it's not historic ? but it looks "flat" and "unfinished" to me. OK, I'm evil )
Hi Greg, that's a fair comment; I've seen models with elaborate designs painted on them, dragon's and such, based on (I think) Persian art.
But I didn't want to spend any more time, and was worried whether I could I manage to paint the same dragon on both sides of each elephant. Maybe I will come back to them, one day. Or paint a dragon on the next elephant in a few month's time....
Woohoo! A lot of surface area. They do look nice now they're based.
Thanks Adelaid gamer, I'm pleased with them (and pleased I've finished them, too!).
Sweet Simon,
A nasty surprise awits your enemies, that is of course if they don't read the blog!
cheers

Thanks, Matt!
Very nice looking elephants, hmmm now where did I leave the box of mice....
Christopher, yes they are very nice models!
Mario is going to send me a third elephant, shortly. I also intend to paint at least a couple of the elephants that Aventine will be bringing out shortly, and I am sculpting a dead elephant model for my Zama project. It's the year of the nellie!
